How can we use artistic strategies to counter the feeling of powerlessness in the face of environmental pollution through experiencing the importance of the individual in the whole?

Overwhelmed by the current climate crisis, one might underestimate the individual impact of a single person. During the Kunstfest 2022, we address the urgent topic of waste with a new tone. We rethink ways of recycling by gathering trash as a community and creating instruments solely out of this discarded garbage. Through a participatory performance a collective sound will be brought about.

Theaterplatz is the stage of our orchestra and its two creative stations: The workshop, where the trash is collected and instruments are built and a portable recording studio, made from reused soundproofing objects, where the sounds of the instruments will be recorded. The first two weekends are dedicated to the creative process. The participants  gather to craft the instruments and play on them. Furthermore the recording studio is open for the participants to be recorded while playing on their instruments. These recorded sounds are compiled in a musical piece that can be heard at the last weekend of the Kunstfest.

Participants: Belén Arellano Cañizares, Danae, Eemaan Raja, Fabianne Margue, Lucía Gonzalez Gaitán, Nadja Kracunovic, Sisu Mon Satrawaha.
